Near as I can find out, Raffaello is what Italians call the great Renaissance artist Raphael. Which makes sense as he was a) a sculptor and b) the originals of what these carvings are based on are in the Vatican.
This was manufactured by a company called H. Colamonici, a cameo factory in Italy, and it is positively lovely! I’m guessing this was purchased by a tourist in Naples. Could you imagine being on the “Grand Tour” in the 20s or 30s?
